SUPPORT AND RFF WITH VANESSA PETTET

Term 3 sees me continue within my support role and providing relief from face-to-face teaching (RFF) for the teachers of Yr 3/4 and Yr 5/6.  Alongside Mrs James and Mrs Palmer, I continue to help deliver Religion lessons to Yr 3/4. Presently, Yr 3/4 are working with a unit titled 'Called To Be Saints.' There is a good chance that each of them could tell you one or more facts about Saint John Paul ll, Saint John Bosco, Saint Mary MacKillop, Saint Joan of Arc, Saint Patrick or Saint Mother Teresa that you didn't know.

For Yr 5/6 Art, the students have started to investigate ways in which artists may represent the environment, using observation and different means of recording as a basis for an expressive interpretation. The students will look at how artists have represented their environment in expressive ways, and try out a range of different techniques that artists have utilised. From their own environment and experiences, the students will document ideas in research drawings and then develop concepts into paintings, weavings and sculptures. They will research a culture from another country and make a mask to represent that culture.

In Yr 5/6 Geography, the students  have commenced a unit called ‘Geographical Planning For Sustainable Futures.’ The students have studied the cultural obligations to Country in Aboriginal cultures. Future lessons will target: Aboriginal cultural works and oral traditions in landscape mapping; Aboriginal peoples’ management of environments and world heritage areas; navigating the road maps of Australia; and studying satellite images and freight maps.

On the playground this week, some of the school's inside equipment was moved outdoors.......just for a change. Many of the students took the opportunity to put ‘them’ to good use. The use of such equipment can serve not only the purpose of having fun, but also help improve focus and self-regulation for some individuals.
